Amanita muscaria
Amanita muscaria
This amazing amanita could be described as the quintessential fungi. Photographing this species had long been an ambition, which meant that during the cold wet winter months I searched around the base of pine trees in hope of finding one! As you can see, my searching paid off. I revisit the same stand of trees each winter and sure enough, there they are! I now have many images of this beautiful species, which by the way is not native to Australia.
