Leafless Tongue Orchid
Leafless Tongue Orchid
This unusual looking orchid flowers during the summer months. It is part of the Tongue Orchid family (named so because of the shape of the plants single leaf) but has no 'tongue', as the name suggests it is leafless! This species is regarded as vulnerable. Many orchid habitats have been invaded by human development, luckily the work of a few dedicated individuals have helped preserve important areas and habitats ensuring the survival of many native orchids.
