Swamp Wallaby
Swamp Wallabies are usually very shy and wary of humans. I was able to get really close to this wallaby which was more than I could have hoped. To start with, I intentionally kept my distance - happy to just observe my subjects eating habits. I noticed how the wallaby used its nose to push away hard top soil on the ground to access new shoots of vegetation. “How robust must that nose be” I thought. After about an hour had passed the wallaby seemed quite content to let me approach – in fact it had turned into a bit of a ‘poser’ and was being very co-operative. Using my 300mm lens allowed a comfortable working distance whilst being able to get some close portraits showing that rather robust nose!
